So, for example, when teaching to kill a mockingbird, I have big band music from the 1930s playing.
What I actually have playing the most often in my classroom is the soundtrack from Minecraft. It’s familiar enough so that students don’t have to stop and listen; it’s turned out to be one of the best to help students be calm and productive.

We teachers who are Christians have to remember that the souls sitting in those desks in our classrooms need us to be men and women of grace, humility, discipline, integrity, and held responsible as we teach those young souls to do the same. Teaching from the heart is exhausting all measures of teaching to ensure learning, not limiting instruction due to our own discomforts or weaknesses.
