For math finals, I would allow students a 3 x 5 note card on which they could write anything they thought might be helpful. I did require it to be stapled to the final when turned in. Students worked so hard on their note cards they inadvertently studied!

Ooh – good question. Actually, you can set iPads to “Guided Access” – that means they can only be within the one app and need a passcode to get out of it. You set it up on the iPad ahead of time & then to activate it, all you have to do is click the home button 3 times. To deactivate it, you enter the code (it’s a separate code from the iPad lock code…)
