I mean they cannot control putting each other down, staying in their seats, let alone completing a short assignment. Having group work, classroom discussions, building relationships, is impossible. I am wondering how to make it through the next 14 weeks of school

My son is starting school soon, and we are concerned that we won’t be able to obey his teacher. I am glad to know that a teacher will know what to do if a kid doesn’t obey them!

I needed to read this, and am thankful to you for sharing it. Thank you!

Of course you are right that relationship building is key. In this article I’m focusing on how to get a grip if things are out of control – because if things are out of control not much else (including meaningful relationship building) can happen. Here’s a couple articles that talk more about the relationship side – https://teach4theheart.com/2015/04/27/how-to-counsel-a-student-instead-of-just-giving-out-consequences/ https://teach4theheart.com/2014/02/13/how-to-show-real-love-to-the-kids-even-when-theyre-not-acting-lovable/

I would enjoy hearing how you handled regular daily interaction with the students to help them feel invested in learning with you.
