Thank you so much for sharing your feedback. I’m sorry it came across us as keeping Christians from active participation in eradicating racism. We actually intended quite the opposite! Monique, one of the people we were talking with for this post, is the founder of the Center for Biblical unity, whose goal is racial unity. We are actively working on more resources about promoting racial unity as well, including our recent article about embracing diversity in the classroom, as well as a session at our upcoming Rise Up Summit about real racial unity. I’m wondering, did you listen to the podcast or just read the post? You may catch more nuance and context from listening to the entire podcast. We did our best to represent the conversation well in our article, but the podcast definitely has more information. God bless you. -Alexx from Teach4theHeart

There many paragraphs and assertions where I felt some instructional comments were needed, but I wrote this response instead.
Who coined the phrase CRT? When I am participating in protests no one is proposing this theory. They just want an end to the systemic, institutionalized murder of Black people. The “Christian” church in this country has a long history of complicity when it comes to racism (actually white churches participated in its promotion.) And here again, instead of using this platform as a means of encouraging Christians to take a stance against racism, you want to engage in a compare and contrast activity. To what purpose? To keep “Christians” from active participation in eradicating racism? To release them from any responsibility (with the exception of prayer) to care for fellow human beings? Have you not heard that prayer without works is dead?
What the church is NOT doing to help/love its neighbors is a bigger issue than what you believe may be theory behind BLM.

If you, for whatever reason, do not like the BLM or similar movements, that’s fine. You don’t have to help, but please don’t hinder.

Instead of disparaging the efforts of others, use your platform to confront racism in the church. Accept the fact that yes racism comes from sin, but this particular sin has been institutionalized by white people. It’s not simply “unfortunate” that it exists. To the contrary, it has been very fortunate and profitable for the dominate group.

Racism was created and it can be eradicated.
Educate christians about the legacy of racism on people (christians) of color. Educate yourself! Start discussion groups with diverse members. Lead demonstrations of love.

I believe Chron.7:14. I believe God changes hearts. So yes, I pray. However, I also believe we are our brother’s keeper. So, I feed people when they are hungry. I support ministries that support people. I share the grief of the oppressed. I try not to minimize the suffering of others. I turn no blind eye to evil. I courageously call for wrongs to be righted. I march with demonstrators who truly believe that black lives matter.

I’ve been struggling as I am in a district where CRT is heavily supported. My Christian beliefs have conflicted with this view. The article was refreshing and confirmed a lot of what I was feeling. I also have some work to do. I look forward to reading the other resources. God bless!❤️
